Hi All,

Would anyone admit to owning a F4 Phantom stick top and be willing to donate it to the Wattisham Museum for XT914 please?

I take it you are putting staging of some sort to allow the inside of the cockpit to be seen? I ask as I know the Scottish Museum of Flight (East Fortune airfield) has a USMC F4 in their collection. Their jet has no staging etc so you cannot see into the cockpit. Perhaps they would loan you a stick top?

Yes, they have access steps and platform on both sides Sandy. Front cockpit has lower column but not top. same in rear as she's a twin sticker. we are also looking for MB Mk 7a ejection seat face screen handles, PSP boxes and cushions and front / rear QR boxes...anyone?

Sandy Parts, would doubt the Scottish one has one, most were pinc.... removed by crews on landing, the Jag at the museum is missing it's one, here have a 360 scroll around some of their cockpits, Jag included..

There are two slowly rotting away at Boscombe down, perhaps the owners (MoD? QinetiQ?) would let you have the stick tops?

Unfortunately these airframes have been sold to Everett Aero and they are awaiting removal to Bentwaters

But thanks for the ideas

One assumes you're familiar with all the "survivors". If not, have a gander at the Thunder & Lightnngs website for the list and locations.

Would have thought it might be worth giving RAF Manston a bell (XV411 & ZE360) or the scrappy on the IoW (XT863). Otherwise begging letters to FAA Museum @ VL would be in order.

Are they common with the Luftwaffe F4 sticks?

Since they have just retired their fleet hopefully they may have a few spare parts from those to be destroyed and not displayed?

Thanks for the leads

We have emailed Luftwaffe and trying other leads

apparently the same for all century fighters and maybe A6 as well?

You might try looking in the 700 to see who the last pilot was. I am sure it was in there last time I looked prior to it leaving Cambridgeshire for Suffolk. Might be possible to track him down via this medium?

I own a Sabre one, they are common shapes but have different numbers on them, as for an F-4 one see

I think I've got a face screen handle somewhere, I'll have a look for you over the weekend. The dreaded loft beckons!

We now have a good lead re stick top and thanks all for your assistance.

However we are still looking for Face screen handles x 2, QRB for both seats, PSP and seat cushions plus seat and canopy pins ?

Any further ideas or items hidden away please?

Regards

PS
I've got two Phantom stick tops, a "normal" top made by Bendix and a HOTAS top made by Rocker Industries. I don't have the NSNs for them but I'm sure one of them will fit. They are the genuine article ( I supervised the Phantom disposal programme at RAF Wattisham in 1992) Are you interested?

Hope you get one - amazed at the generosity of people well done
Think as someone said the F4 stick top is not unique to the F4 but same as several other US fighters - think there is a picture of the stick top in Haynes F4 manual ( all my own work ! ) - I've seen a few RAF FG1/ FGR2 stick tops on eBay in past couple of years fetching £2-500 - XT914 appears in my log book a few times in 1981-1984 - I think I left the rear stick in it !

A soldier has just been jailed** for sneaking through with a gun, but it turns out between us we've got a Phantom.

Might need to keep this quiet.

I've got your PM. I'm very busy this weekend so I will see if I can sort out some pictures early next week. As I do not intend to make money out of this I had in mind a permanent loan basis.

Such generosity and love for the spook never fails to amaze me.

We are still looking for some other front cockpit instrumentation such as
1. Attitude Indicator
2. Accelerometer
3. Vertical Velocity Indicator
4. Standby Attitude Indicator

If anyone has one in the shed/ loft would they PM me please?

Scruffy Fanny,

Thanks again for your on going support

Kind Regards
