I was on a flight yesterday from Barca to Leeds and as we made our descent the captain informed us the airport was closed and we were diverting to Liverpool. We sat on the Tarmac for 45 minutes at Liverpool whilst the aircraft was refuelled and promptly flew back to Leeds. Anyone know the real story? Apparently no other flights into Leeds were affected.

Another aviation website discussed this yesterday and it was reported there that LBA, or LBA ATC, closed down for a short while because of a 'bomb scare'.

Apparently another FR flight into LBA (from Palma) was also on its way into Liverpool but LBA re-opened before it landed so it was able to land at its intended destination.

I cannot confirm any of the above personally but I report it in good faith.

Whilst I am not Ryanair's biggest fan, it is very rare that a crew would lie to it's passengers. In eight years of flying, I don't think I have ever encountered such behaviour.

Anyone know the real story?

:ugh:

I can understand your curiosity for more information, but can't you simply ask for more information without the implied accusation?
