I heard a lot of guys recently resigned from Jetstar in Singapore?

Anybody have info on terms conditions etc? Why people leaving?

Does this mean they will be hiring? I have 1500 a320 3000TT.

Time to upgrade for FO?

Thanks in advance.

True, a lot of guys have already left recently (including myself), a lot more are waiting for bonds to finish and then jump ship.

Morale is pretty low, they just offered a "Pay Rise" that was a joke.:ugh: (something like 1.5%, considering that inflation in SIN over the last 5 years is way above that) Jetstar Asia Pilots are the worst paid in Singapore (especially FO's) hence a lot of movement to Tiger and Silk Air. Also low flying hours for a long time has been an issue for captains. A lot of FO's are leaving because they were told fast upgrades would happen and 2 years later nothing, still another 2 years (Probably) so no quick upgrades.(Unless all the captains leave which is possible)

Another reason for people leaving is the company is not expanding, if anything they lost a lot of routes into china so a bit of uncertainty about the future. And also they were supposed to be getting a330 last year and 787 this year. None of which is happening so guys that joined with hopes of widebody are looking elsewhere.

Not sure if they will be hiring FO's (they just took about 15 cadets) defiantly not DEC. Tiger would probably be interested with the time you have, would be a much better choice than Jetstar! Good Luck.

Ok, think I got that off my chest.:ugh:

From what I know, as of this year, 3K is doing their FO hiring primarily from their pool of cadets. Currently there was a rather big intake in June. OAA has 2 more who will be taken in at end of year or latest by feb. as for Ctc cadets, it's still a gray area.

320BusFlyer is right. Back in early 2012 when the 330 idea fell flat on the floor, it affected a lot of us, and never quite recovered.

Did not help that our contracts (under my scheme) did not even give us any productivity pay for the first 1500hrs we flew with 3K. So you could be flying 40hr or close to 90hr and still be getting in the ball park of $5800, worse if you are a singaporean and having to deduct it even further for your CPF.

As of now, looks like Tiger is the way to go. They seemed to be hiring like crazy. Saw a whole bunch of them taking Air Law exams at SAA in Changi about a month ago.

Maybe things made a turn for the worse after the new CEO took over.

Monthly Basic - $7200 SGD for 60 Hrs

61-80 hrs $160SGD

80+ $180SGD

-$75 SGD per day out of base allowance (hope you like eating cheaply, and they will time you to be there for 1 day and 23 hrs = $75 SGD)

-No pay for SIM (4x 4hrs sessions a year)

-No SEP pay (3 days a year)

-Annual License medical comes from your own pocket.

-They just reduced the sick pay to 1.8hrs flight pay (you cant afford to be sick for anything other than a SIN-KUL flight)

-30days Annual Leave - can only be taken in 10 day blocks (and expect to be flying 40hrs any time you take leave = base pay only)

-No 13 month payment (so basically you work a month for free being on salary)

-Increasing frequency of Back of the Clock flights and 4 sector days

80 hrs is a very good month. dont count on more than that, 75 would be an average month. For some reason the management love to be over crewed out of fear people will leave so instead of making it a better place to work and keep they guys happy, they to try and keep people by offering retention bonds (last one was 2 years and is now finishing for most guys, hence the resignations)

There are much better options around at the minute. I suggest you look elsewhere. (Tiger FO for 60hrs = $10,000SGD (Approx), Jetstar FO for 60hrs =$7200 SGD)

Thank you 320BusFlyer,

please can you explain me what "detention bond means"?
Why 13th salary? Are you working on thirteen 28-day rosters per year?

Which better options arround do you mean?

Thanx,

TOS

Retention Bond = the company will give you a "Bonus" of $12000SGD but if you leave within 2 years you have to pay it back.

Better options - in Singapore, TIGER, SILKAIR for a320, SCOOT apparently hiring later in the year to fly widebody and eventually 787.
Lots of hiring in the middle east if you can tollerate living out there, lot better in terms of $$$. (dont know if you are in SIN but it is not cheap to live out there)

I have heard that expansion has stopped and will probably never ever resume.

We are expanding - into the back of the clock!!

Compared to a year ago we have some new routes and rescheduled times, all back of the clock and absolute killers.

In fact they are now manipulating flight times to coincide with longer duty periods (sign on 5mins before 2200 and your duty time magically goes from 10hrs 15min to 12hr 15mins) so now you can do a Darwin turn around which was previously a turn around. Also SIN-BKK-FUK, 2hrs on the ground in BKK, because if you had a normal turn around time of 40mins, that would mean you signed on in a lower FDP limit and could not complete the flight (dont forget you do not get paid on the ground, just taking one for the team).

The management are squeezing very hard and making the rosters pretty horrible. Hence why a lot of people have left and leaving. hence the hiring.

In fact quite a few pretty experienced FO's have been turning down commands to go elsewhere (mostly Emirates)

As mentioned in a previous post, Singapore is expensive, if you have kids it is not really feasible. Captains that are having/had kids are also on the move as it is just unsustainable with current conditions and the increasing trend of horrible roster patterns is making a lot of people pissed off.

The staff travel is pretty good though!

Edit to above, Darwin was previously a Night Stop!

Damn,

The page Unemployment among Singaporean Pilots ~ The Frequent Flyer http://www.sg-flight.com/2014/06/unempolyment-among-singaporean-pilots.html?spref=fb has been removed.

Does anyone have an archive copy of it? I believe it has some excellent insights.

Does anyone have any infor on the current hiring climate at Jetstar Asia?

The Ex-air force boss mentioned that numbers are "healthy". Rumor is they are taking in Air France crews now and are not bothering hiring externally anymore.

Only 2 AF capt joined the company.
Recruitment is slowing down as many cadets are joining. Also few FOs are being upgraded. I guess no more opening before 6 months.
But things are always changing very fast in Singapore ( Jetstar, Tiger, Silkair...)
