A man believed to be Turkish and in his 30s was discovered in the British Airways Airbus A320 that flew from Istanbul to Terminal 5 .

How did he manage to evade security at Istanbul?

Really sad story....

However also a huge security lapse. He could have had worse intentions. Seems like these poor guys always want to fly BA, didn't this happen last year?

Just go to show what a complete joke security is. As long as you don't have a bottle of water and you have your hi viz jacket on, everything is ok....but some how, someone can get airside and hide in the wheel bay of an aircraft, and no one notices.:ugh:

Given the size of the Turkish population in (say) Germany & Sweden, is it really that difficult for a Turkish citizen to enter Europe that they have to resort to this ?

Kinda scotches the myth perpetrated by the pilot job agencies when they advertise contracts with Turkish companies as being "European Based" :=

Yes. If I remember correctly it happened on a 747 from Johannesburg.

In that South African case, the man fell from the wheelwell when the gear went down on final approach. But he was probably dead before then.
