JAL7 BOS-NRT (JA822J) has returned to BOS with a "maintenance issue", not good for Boeing this :ugh:

Seemed to land on 15L or R (couldn't tell from Flightradar24), when everything else is landing on 4L/R from the south. 15R's the longest runway, I think?

Fuel pump, the rumors say. No emergency declared, no assistance required. JAL lists it as a "maintenance issue"

Apologies MikeNYC, knew it was an issue of some sort, corrected the post

It is getting positively silly to start a new thread about every possible 787 maintenance issue which there are hundreds of such events every day.

Tower asked if they needed any help after exiting 15R but was not needed. Taxied back to gate E4 now. METAR says 09012KT.

Spent a long time circling to the east of Logan, then landed from the west when everything else is landing from the south. 15R is the longest runway. Braking issues?

Tank transfer pump I assume?

Braking issues?

No more than any other large aircraft landing with more weight than it would like.

I think there are only 66 of them in service round the world? In the past couple of days, 3 of them have had serious maintenance issues leading to passengers not getting to their destinations. That's about 5% of the fleet.

long time circling to the east of Logan
on Fightradar24 and Flightaware it appears to be about three circuits centered about 20 nm east of Gloucester while maintaining an altitude around 11,000 feet.

About 15 minutes, tops.

Pretty much every new aircraft type entering service as teething problems: A380, C130J to name but 2. The aviation media has nothing better than do than to make to make it an issue - like it or not that is human nature. :ugh:

The 787 will succeed and people will look back in a few years time as it being a blip as I'm sure it is. Who talks of A380 engine issue or cracks? It's rare.

Good luck Boeing and well done for producing a nice carriage.
