I guess the fleet is big enough now, so it makes sense...

Had a look on their website, it doesn't specifically say DEFO A380 unless you have any more info on it?

I can't attend anyway unfortunately, but if anyone does manage to go, any useful info about recruitment and future plans will be greatly appreciated.

Think its probably the orange bus drivers they are after.

I pointed this out in the ME forum- a few things to consider re DEP on the A380-

- The pay is the same.

-The lifestyle is quite good, though for now the 777 beats it for variety.

- Time to command may well be longer

- It's not a rating that is going to get you a job else where, while A330/340 and B777 pilots are in demand.

Also, whilst you are most likely to be placed on the A380 it is still possible to arrive in DXB and find you have been changed on to a course for the A330 ( or even the 777 ). It is not written in stone, even if you sign a contract for a particular type - just simply down to the requirements that week.

The retirement of the 330/340 fleet has been delayed and there are still 777s being delivered.

Good luck to those applying, just be yourself at the interview and come here with an open mind.

The delay on 330 retirement is not true , they are still leaving and the 777 will start to retire/replace in2014. Upgrades will take longer on both fleets 7-10 . The hiring will most likely be on the 380. Very few upgrades in the near future on the 777, don't surprised if 330 Capt transfer to the 777 next year, due to fleet reduction plan for 2014. Sounds like a few additional 380 might be available ,which makes sence with the runway closure in May

Thank you !

When I attended one in the past I was there for around 90 minutes, which included staying for a chat afterwards with the people from Emirates.

Is this roadshow exclusively for airbus people? I'd like to go but I'm a Boeing person, 2300TT.... Also trivial question, is it relatively casual as a seminar!!??

The second post of the EK interview thread on the middle east forum said the following back in 2003:

CRJ700,
Just be yourself, don't pretend to be someone else.
The interview is straight forward.
They have about 400 captains and 400 F/O's now, I guess time to command will be 7-9 years which is not bad for a major airline.
Just heard a rumour that they will look into hiring direct entry typerated captains because of the expansion this year.
Good luck
Cape

How was 'Cape's' prediction? Apparently time to command is no longer now than it was 10 years ago!

I guess if you are from the London area and you want to get home every now and then the A380 fleet would be the one to be on with 5+ daily flights to the London-area airports (do they fly to LGW yet?). With slot restrictions the A380 will always be a popular airplane.

Getting back on topic,

Can anybody shed any light into DavidBrents question of the dress code and what should be expected at a roadshow?

Sky_Captain - hmmm getting back on topic, well I for one, would not want my wife or daughter in Dubai, considering that if she got violated, she would go to prison.

This is a very important principle to consider, and I would not wish to support any such regime to fly for an over-rated airline, which at times does not treat it's staff better than the LCC in Europe.

Of course if you do not have a family, it is not of importance, however as a principle I would choose to not go to live and work there, equally as I would not go to live and work in North Korea.

I do not mind respecting other cultures, however for me, this is nearly similar to accepting apartheid that was in South Africa.
You think I am being extreme, I guess you would change your view if it had been your wife or girlfriend who had been raped there. We choose, if they need us there, than they should adapt to normal human standards, and not behave like animals.
