Hello Folks,

This is in regards to the DGCA Aerodrome Operating Minima - referring section 8, Series C, Part 1.

I'm a Flight Dispatcher and a CPL holder. Referring to the manual, there is a list of Airports mentioned with their minima. What I want to clarify is are those AOM for landing only ? If yes, what about takeoff ? It says LVTO authorization is required below 400 M. Does that mean an aircraft can takeoff at 400 M even though the landing minima say for example for VABB (Restricted Minima, Runway 27) is 900m (650 RVR) ?

What kind of approval do we require for these from DGCA ?

Thanks in advance.

The commander shall not commence take-off unless the weather conditions at the aerodrome of departure are equal to or better than applicable minima for landing at that aerodrome unless a suitable take-off alternate aerodrome is available. The take-off alternate aerodrome should have weather conditions and facilities suitable for landing the aeroplane in normal and non-normal configurations pertinent to the operation. The take-off alternate weather (actual and forecast) shall not be less than ILS CAT I minima. The take-off alternate aerodrome should be located within the following distance from the aerodrome of departure:
a) Aeroplanes with two engines: not more than a distance equivalent to one hour flight time at the single engine cruise speed;
b) Aeroplanes with three or more engines: not more than a distance equivalent to two hours flight time at the one engine inoperative cruise speed

Thanks.

What if the T/O alternate airport is mentioned as above. Then what is the minima ?

It then depends on how cool the departure airport is.Does it have centreline markings only ?Does it have edge lights only ? Or does it also have centreline lights as well ?.Can they give RVR information ?

In any case the take off minima will be mentioned on the chart.

See page 19 of the above dgca circular.

Please feel free to ask if still in doubt.

How cool the airport is? :confused:

Yes, for take off your minimums are 400 meters. But it goes on in the further pages to say that for take off with less than landing minimas you are required to file a take off alternate.

A take off alternate is an airport you should be able to reach with in 60 mins incase of a single engine failure.
