For those interested in military science and engineering developments ... the MOD has published Issue 13 of Defence Codex. Not sure why it's taken nearly a year to publicise it's existence

A couple of interesting articles ... a bonedome visor film for military aircrew to protect against l@ser emissions and a piece on good old RAF Fylingdales (post Golf Balls).

As an aside ... I notice that Wg Cdr Owens (Fylingdales Boss) is wearing some sort of badge/brevet ... but not one I recognise ... anyone able to enlighten me ?

I can't really see the badge properly on the computer; probably need to see a printed version. Is this another badge dreamt up to out-aircrew the aircrew?

It's the RAF Fylingdales Employee of the Month Badge.

Or, less likely, it's the Space Command Emblem

...r the Space Fleet Badge from a recent Trekkies convention.

Looks like it could be a RAFA Wings Week appeal emblem

Courtney ... you're bang on. Having a further look at the bigger pic in the Codex article it looks more like the Basic Space Command Badge.

Based on the number of years of service of the personnel in Airforce space assignments, Senior and Master Space Command Badges were awarded.

Senior Space Command Badge is denoted by a star centered above the Basic Space Command Badge and Master Space Command Badge is denoted by a star and wreath centered above the Basic Space Command Badge. Senior Space Command Badge was issued at seven years of service for officers, whereas for enlisted members it was awarded for attaining a seven skill level.Master Space Command Badge was awarded at fifteen years of service for officers, whereas for enlisted personnel it was awarded for Master Sergeant or above with five years in the speciality from the award of senior badge.

So RAF Officers can wear USAF Military insignia on their uniform now ?

I've mentioned this before on another thread but in my UOTC unit, the RA Wing PSI who was P Coy qualified, not only wore his Para wings on his CS95 and (what I thought) US jump wings. They were actually Dutch Army jump wings as he done their course.

What do the uniform regs say? Looks like she done the Space Command course, got her certificate and brevet.

Cheers

If you squint a bit, is she wearing a McDonalds employee one star badge for competent burger flipping?
