There are far, far worse places for Timmy to be - like BZZ for a start!

A few days in Greensleaves, a few nights in the Cotton Club and a few meals in the Keg could be just what the doctor ordered. Enjoy it lads and lassies!

Now now Beags...who saved the day for your GAPAN visit? Brand shiny new Voyager? No! Your beloved 101 Sqn? No! Must have stuck in your craw having to go up in a Tristar!

Thanks for the translations gr4techie. I never know these places and wonder why people don't just put the name of the airfield in clear - saved me from looking CYYT up (think I might have worked BZZ out)!

gr4techie.

The internationally recognised IATA code for RAF Brize Norton is ........ BZZ.

As anyone who worked in BZZ Ops would tell you.

If there's a proper GE on it, they will be looking in the wrong place at the Cotton Club, Eager Beaver was always the place for Albert GEs, too much for a Tristar chap maybe :hmm:

sorry, I guess CYYT is a real tricky one to work out.

Ah yes Smuj, but being a Timmy/Tommy (OP doesn't give a/f reg) the G/E wouldn't necessarily know his way around St John's, after all it's only a hop and spit from BZZ for the mighty Trimotor, more likely to see them in the James Joyce in CYYC or some such salubrious drinking establishment.

Smuj - I remember the Eager Beaver however, the private shower shows upstairs in the Cotton Club come a close second - those were the days!

Didn't the Cotton Club used to have a "lady" who started her act totally naked, bringing only a bowl of glacé cherries and some whipped cream on stage with her. We gave a lift to an AVM from STC around 1990 to Boston, with a night stop St Johns. After his screeching in at the Eager Beaver, twice because someone stole his certificate, we took him to see this lady perform. Those Brass hats certainly know how to get "involved". As he left the aircraft at Boston, Logan, he made a point of coming round and thanking not only the flight crew, but even me. What a nice man he was.

I was introduced to the Cotton Club in the very early 90's by Messers Dodds, Libbey & Tetlow. All I remember is getting some VERY strange looks wheeling a shopping trolley full of liquid refreshment across the lobby of the the Radisson and up to the party room (mine) prior to retiring to said club via the ever present Irish Bar whose name escapes me. Luckily I escaped the Screech In as I was a card carrying member of the Bulldog Club and believe me Black Death's are far more lethal than Screech. If I recall Tmoato Juice, Tequila and Lamb's Navy all floating separately in a wine glass. :yuk::yuk::yuk:

Now those boys could drink, respect to you sir !!! Just remembered, Trapper Johns was a bit of a place as well! I suspect that was where we got our AVM screeched in.

Fergineer,

This may bring back a few memories, pity it's a bit messy after the lead in, but you get the idea.
