sorry.. if this thread doesn't fit for this forum.

recently I've heard that highspeed below 10,000ft approved doesn't mean can exceed 250kts. it only means cancel restricions less than 250kts on the SID etc.
and ATC controllers don't have rights for approve speed more than 250kts as well. quiet a new concept for me.
please share you guys ideas about this.
many thanks!

Your Company Ops Manual and or Flt Crew Ops manual may also restrict speed to 250kts regardless of what ATC offers. As I get paid by the minute, I'm happy to do 250 below FL100:E.

In the USA 250kts below 10 000' can't be waived, something to do with a mid air collision many years ago. I can do 300kts until 5000' if approved by ATC, 250 below that.:)

the way i interpret "highspeed below 10,000ft" is :

No.1 250kts below 10,000ft is canceled.

No. 2 you still must adhere to your company's OMA(eg. 250 below 5000ftagl) .. and also the STAR speed constraints.

FlyCold... There's no regulation on that. It's be an interpretation started from no idea where.

However, in India it makes a lot of sense, at least in the operations I'm involved in, to not exceed 250 IAS

Bird strikes is a big menace here. And increasing your speed is just increasing your chances of damaging your airplane more incase of a bird strike.

Again, just my two paisas :-)

ps: isn't worth much if you think where the INR is against a USD ;-)

Hi all,

One need not look too far to find out the Indian requirement on speed < FL100.
In AIP ENR 1.4, under ATS Airspace classification, the speed limit is 250kts<FL100 in all Indian airspace.
When ATC tells you "NO ATC SPEED RESTRICTIONS" , that's exactly what they mean , i.e. ATC has no restrictions on the speed you may maintain , i.e you could maintain 100 kts or the highest legally possible as per your company and Indian law whichever is more restrictive.

For those of you that climb at >250 kts below FL100 , just ask your chief pilot to clarify with DGCA whether you can disregard the Indian AIP requirement , I would hazard a guess at the answer from DGCA. Until they change the AIP , I will not climb at >250kts and someday have to explain it over tea and buiscuits....:=:=

Thanks guys.
As I mentioned, that's quite a new idea for me as well even I had experiences over many other countries.
I heard from south korean atc meeting and they explained already double checked through ICAO.
So I just wanted check what other authorities doing currently.
Many thanks again guys. : )

ps. previous company had limitations 250kts by 5000ft due to birdstrike hazard. Not caused by atc restrictions.
