Giday all

I see on AFAP jobs they're advertising the A330 F/O gig with Air Pacific (Nadi base, 2 year contract)

Anybody with any inside info as to contract terms & conditions, rostering, quality of life, etc?

Is it "really" a 2 year gig or chance to become permanent?

An event, usually of a musical persuasion, generally involving a person or group of persons playing musical instruments, possibly accompanied by singing, for the enjoyment of paying guests. :E

Thanks for your input, grammar nazis. Duly noted. Although it's probably good form, when making a post on the internet which serves no useful purpose except to criticize someone else's excessive use of colloquialisms, to refrain from using "WTF" as your opening move.

Now back to the task at hand ... anybody got any info to share?

Gig (musical performance)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gig is slang for a musical engagement in which musicians are hired. Originally coined in the 1920s by jazz musicians, the term, short for the word "engagement", now refers to any aspect of performing such as assisting with performance and attending musical performance. More broadly, the term "gigging" means having paid work, being employed. A gig is sometimes called a "set", referring to the set list of compositions played.

Been there, back in the 747 Classic days of Air Pacific, and I would not personally recommend anybody go there!

This is a Captain's gig (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain%27s_gig), not sure about an F/O's gig.

Money is not bad if you are contracted by IAC. If you are direct hired you must pay 46% of taxes as non resident to Fiji government and none will advise you about this.
Roster is a ****. FA does not comply with your commuting conditions signed.
Tanoa is a crap hotel and you must check out any time you layover and lived your luggage in storage.
Food on board always the same for crew.
Crew and people is so nice and gently.
Dead Head flight from-to base is not paid. (First 2)
You are daily basis paid if on duty or out of base.
While at home on your days off you donīt received a penny and you donīt have annual leaves.

Is FJ a professional organization with good standards, unlike those in Asia where Airmanship and common sense are lacking?
Do they allow you to be up-graded when duty travelling if there is space available.?
Where is the longest lay-over?
What is their most tiring sector?
Thanks Guys & Girls of the "Gig"

Can someone shed some more light on an incident that happened a few years back.

An Airpacific 767 did an unstable approach that triggered ELOMS. I understand the gear was not in the locked down position as the aircraft descended through 500 feet.

What was the outcome?

What did management do, did the crew do any retraining?

I was there on the 737 when this happened.
Local crew 34 approach ML
As I recall the F/O concerned was one their sharpest, the Captain(not so sharp)
Crew room talk had them going over EN at 5000'
Would have been an interesting experience for the S/O
I think a bit a retraining for all concerned.
Never mind ,am sure they have got their hands full of A330 now:eek:

Centaurus........... How do you get through life without even understanding such simple things??????

And you're so clever because you know every single abbreviation, acronym, jargon etc.
Centaurus has managed to get through life understanding quite complicated things, so maybe he just doesn't have time for the simple crap that fills your day!

predictions that NZD$ will soon be on par with AUD$ & then be stronger.

Why is NZD$ so strong ?

Guess it's good if you are being paid NZD$ & have some expenses in AUD$
