The commentator at Le Bourget yesterday referred to Lindbergh as 'The first man to fly the Atlantic'. Not the first solo, not even the first non stop, just the first.

How many did fly the Atlantic before Lindbergh? About 50 wasn't it?

In May 1919, almost eight years Before Lindbergh, the crew of six in Curtis NC4 made the first crossing, followed by Alcock and Brown who made the first non-stop crossing in June and the next month there were 31 on R34 westbound (including a stowaway).
