So it appears the Indonesian's have got their way again.

First Garuda did it and now Mandala have followed suit.

Mandala, after keeping its contract pilots on the ground for 6 months have proceeded to fire all their expat first officers citing they have enough local pilots. With the demise of both Batavia and IAT Indonesian Air Transport a lot of local pilots of varied experience and skill levels have been dropped onto the market.

The problems appear to be at a national level, with severe pressure being applied at DGCA level. Mainly due to capacity constraints and lack of a open skies agreement until 2014/2015

Apart from that you have the local patriotic Indonesian pilots general veiled hatred for ex pat pilots to contend with. Mainly due to terms and endearment no doubt.

Thanks guys! :ugh:

Do you expect them to hire expats if they have their own pilots?

Were the expat F/Os real first officers or pay to players?

They were real FOs. The previous DFO Cor Blokzijl refused to use P2Fers.

Look..get real: Indonesia is about the ..THE most corrupt nation on the planet. They dishonour contracts almost as readily as the Nigerians, their attitude to those who stand up for fairness and honesty is arrogance and aggression. They are more than happy to burn off their rain forests, kill off their wildlife and choke the rest of us with forest BBQ's in SIN and Malaysia. You take the Jakarta silver spoon and you take the cyanide too....
