New international destination to be announced today..

I think Perth- Hong Kong

Ties up with new Jetstar Hong Kong.
Qantas recently pulled out from that route..

Possible Per - Lombok and perhaps Bali - Adelaide.

Both were (prematurely?) printed in the inflight magazine on the route network graphic last month.

Not sure if they're still in this months edition.

"Ties up with new Jetstar Hong Kong."
Which has since been given an indefinite hold on a start date

"Qantas recently pulled out from that route.."
And Cathay are loving being the sole operator on that route.

Jetstar to launch non-stop flights to Lombok from September^ (http://www.jetstar.com/mediacentre/latest-announcements/detail?Id=f526af2d-3f39-4f8a-9483-d970a46c399d&language=en)

Jetsar says: "first ever non-stop service between Australia and Lombok"

Does anyone remember when National Jet operated non-stop flights in a 146 from Darwin to Lombok? (Ok the Indonesians have shifted the airport in the
meantime, but still, it's the same island).

This 'Pop-up' says fares from $119, 'One way economy starter fares' to commence 24 Sept......

We're taking off to Lombok! (http://email.jetstar.com/pub/sf/FormLink?_ri_=X0Gzc2X%3DWQpglLjHJlTQGsHDGkpnSYrJ2zgt7mLKSU1d DzaH4B7fKi76ijzdnVXMtX%3DWQpglLjHJlTQGtW2o3aESpGzck4jGiOzfwb zcMh88hi4cLdCTbeRR&_ei_=Eiei0SwBYmiCSOBBYsv6Fp0).

Certainly sounds cheap enuf - if you want to go to Lombok....

Would a 'return' boat trip be a bit less..??
Cheers :}

See mate? Nowhere near $10010 for a return trip!!!! However, If you throw in the $3500 odd go home money, and the other add ons while your here, and I guess it could come out line ball. At least you would only have to put up with the muffins one way....

Has Lombok come about cause Jetstar are pulling out of the Perth-Cairns route thereby freeing up an airframe?

Jetstar Australia has taken a number of deliveries of late, including some more for this year.

So 48 hr layover in Lombok? Sweet. You guys deserve it!

I guess most of the passenger traffic will be holiday makers from Australia. Most locals from Lombok who travel overseas are blue collar workers heading to Singapore, Malaysia and the Middle East to work as labourers or domestic helpers. Lombok is pretty much the 'Boganville' of Indonesia.

Perfect fit for the likely pax from Perth, on their regular work breaks....
Just hope Lombok doesn't become like Bali.

Really? That's a shame. A lot of people enjoy that route. Looks like the plane is completely packed every time I see the line / fly the route myself.

That is good to hear its not going to be cut. Just shows you can't believe everything the papers say.
