Hi guys,
By the title I'm sure you think this is another damn thread about some kid who needs questions answered about wether or not they should move and how and when and whats the best way to do it.
No.
Basically, I thought id just chuck up my new blog here. I am moving to canada to learn how to fly float planes and convert my license. at first. i have all my stuff sorted to stay and work in canada. i leave in 1 week.
I thought i might be able to document my journey in order to help others with the choice of moving, or if they have decided too, what way they can go about doing it. not saying all the things ive done are correct or that there arent easier ways.. but they have worked.
Its only fresh but i plan on keeping it a regular thing. Even if you just want to see some awesome pictures from canada on a daily basis.(from next sunday)

Haha its in the blog mate. But island coastal aviation in pitt meadows. When I went to canada in 09 I walked down to the river every day and watched all the seair and harbour air ect planes come and go

Depends. At one stage I was working three jobs while going to school and learning to fly. But I have had help from my entire family too. It hasnt been easy having only single parent but I got there!

Have fun jezza, I just wish I had your drive, since the days of seeing you working around the club as a student to now moving o/s to fly floats.... :D

So are you boxing up your car and bringing that with you too?:ok:

Geez, tough crowd on here.

Have fun in Canada, I just spent a couple of months over there on a working holiday. I didn't bother to convert my licences tho.

There seems to be heaps of floats flights going between Vancouver and Vancouver island.

It'll be tough though, I've got a few unemployed Canadian pilot friends who are looking for their second jobs. They tell me it's extremely hard, even with experience to get any gig.

Make sure you get one of the social security card things when you arrive, The office is in downtown Vancouver. You need it to get a job and if you don't have one you'll have to go back to Vancouver to get it.

Oh yeah and get a letter from your car insurance company saying you have no claims. Without it car insurance/Rego(our CTP equivalent) is $180/month!

Get a Oz police certificate (or get the ball rolling) before you go, so you can get a red-pass (ASIC). Pain to get once there !!!!

On arrival enter on a tourist visa, do your conversion on that, then pop over the border and "activate" your working visa and start the clock then.

Thanks guys,
I already have a police certificate for the visa so ill just take all that stuff with me! Will also be entering on a tourist visa and just pop down to Seattle to go to the Boeing factory and come back on the work visa.
