anteater that gave birth after being kept alone in a cage for a YEAR AND A HALF | Mail Online (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2326192/anteater-gave-birth-kept-cage-YEAR-AND-A-HALF.html)

A female anteater has unexpectedly given birth at a Connecticut conservation center after her mate was separated more than half a year prior, causing officials there to wonder how the mother conceived.

How very strange; how could this happen?

Some critters can even halt a pregnancy and re absorb the fetus if times are hard and don't look sunny on the young rearing stakes, surely there are folks in Connecticut that know this sort of stuff.

This is probably NORMAL for Connecticut as RGB will be along to tell us soon....................

Animal Sports: A male anteater breaks the world high jump record at 7' 2".

In other news: biologists still baffled by female anteater pregnancy in pen protected by 7' fence.

... but why was the anteater kept alone in a cage for a year and a half for crying out loud??

After all, even Anteaters need some lovin'!

It doesn't take rocket science to look to the keeper of the ant eater that has been taking care of it.

Can't they take DNA samples from the babbies and check them against the caretaker?

You've got to wonder about the accuracy of the entire article when they show an aardvark in one pic, and an anteater in another!

after her mate was separated more than [B][half a year prior/B],

I know I'm getting a bit old and senile , but the above "quotation" does NOT say "a year and a half"
lot of difference between ~6 months and ~18 months !
(irrespective of suspended gestation.

I expect RGB would advise that no one permanently resident in CT can count to more than 25 (not enuff fingers & toes)
