Im hearing a few stories from the offshore lads that there may be new issues with cracks found or defects in the offshore fleet.
Unsure of model or operator at present.
Any info is appreciated.

There are always cracks somewhere or other. Mostly in the pilots.

Breaking news: A crack or multiple cracks may or may not have been found in unspecified parts of an unknown helicopter type. Someone alert the authorities.
(is this a reporter desperate for a story or something?)
News slow....you journalists must be breaking your necks for some good stories to butcher. Isn't an aircraft/helicopter made that doesn't have cracks.

If you think that cracks are likely to be an issue on the aircraft you're flying, take care to wear a belt in your trousers.

He is an, admitted, offshore passenger.
Like any piece of complicated equipment the helicopters are in a constant state repair/maintenance. Any issue found is a 'defect' which will be 'rectified' before the aircraft is released to service.
All to often people outside the business (passengers) overhear shop talk between crew and/or maintainers and develop a mental picture of problems that don't match reality.
We trust you guys to operate the rig safely...

Rebuiding Bell tail booms was a constant source of effort. Having said that, cracks are definitely not normal within such items as gearboxes.

Hi - This was simply a post to try and shed some light on a story thats appeared on FB about some cracks being identified on some offshore choppers which as a result may or may not have grounded flights.
Im not a reporter at all - I work as an NDT/Rope Access tech offshore. Something far more perverted....
