cm and kg in weight and balance calculations

Who uses centimeters and kilos for weight and balance calculations?

I know in the US and UK we use pounds and inches.
I'm in West Africa and I see they are using cm's and kg, is this copied from the Russian system? or do other countries use cm's as well?

It's called the metric system and is the world wide standard ignored by the USA, Liberia and Myanmar.
It was introduced by the French and not the Russians.

We are metric in UK - have been for many years. The calculations for US built helicopters (my R44) is in inches / llbs and fuel is loaded in US Gal, weight / balance in llbs; but for the EC120 it is KG / cm and fule is loaded in KG.

Why would you make calculations for your 2 helicopters in 2 different systems?
The numbers are whatever you want them to be.

Using two systems has led to fatal aircraft crashes already.:ugh:

If you look closly the R44 "Center of Gravity Limits" Chart in Section 2-4 RFM you can use lbs-inch; lbs-cm; Kg-inch; Kg-cm. So you can even mix both systems if you like, but you´ll have to untie your brain afterwarts:E

It was introduced by the French and not the Russians.In fact that mathematician Napoleon was your man, who obviously saw the need for simplification whilst working Frenchmen by relating everything back to one..E.G.One tonne of water will replenish one thousand men per day with one litre each, which can be conveniently carried by a horse drawn cart carrying a tank of one cubic meter in size.

Took me a long time to figure out how come whenever you see a Frenchman he barely tops five and a half feet, yet the metric "step" is 39.37".

My brother in law has it figured. He reckons that during the Napoleonic wars the height limit "minimum" was six foot two of the cannon fodder, consequently when most of them got killed as they did, he was responsible for wiping off several inches of height from the French gene pool.

Like starting the modern French helicopter, counting the functions to be performed is not a real challenge.
