Hi all

What are the rules regarding sitting UK JAA flight tests outside of the UK and Europe for that matter.
Looking to renew my UK MEIR and then sit an ATPL flight test if possible down under.
Probably a long shot but wanted to check before I look at having to sell a kidney to finance travelling back to blighty to do it all there.

Thanks in advance for any info

JAA IR flight test has to be done in European airspace.

No, only the initial skill test has to be done in EU airspace. A revalidation may be done anywhere you can find an IRE. However, if it's a renewal, you will need an ATO to assess the need for refresher flying.

The ATPL skill test may be a problem - I'm not sure whether the UK CAA still requires them to be observed by an FOI. If so, it'll be cheaper to fly back to Blighty (twice).
