VC-10 at KSAN - San Diego ??

I just watched (12:15 PM PDT) an all white plane take off on rwy 27 at KSAN - four engine rear mount - very noisy - couldn't see any numbers on it

It sure looked like a VC10 but I can find no information about the flight

My limited understanding was that only 10 VC10 are still flying and they are all RAF.

Does anyone know why a VC10 would be flying out of San Diego commercial (KSAN) airport?

There are only four VC10s still flying but they are not white, they are grey. Could it have been an Il-62?

I can't imagine the noise complaints from Point Loma, assuming they made it OVER Point Loma. To say nothing of the smoke!

but way more noise than the 727 Zero Gravity plane on takeoff and it appeared to be climbing briskly at 1000' over the waterway at the west end of the airport.

No data ever came up on FlightAware

I live on my boat just 900 yards south of the runway and was working on an outboard motor on the dock. I see and hear most flights in and out of the airport so my ears are pretty finely tuned. I don't typically notice the common flights (737/319/320) but usually look up to see the MD80/90, 767, and of course a PiaggioP180 because of the different noise.

Back in the late ninties I was operating in north eastern China near Tianjin. One of my FOs required some procedural continuation training so I organised training ILSs with Tianjin International Airport.
The pattern was quite large and was taking about fifiteen minutes a circuit. As we came down the slope on the second I could hear a Bulgarian IL 62 calling for start clearance for somewhere in Eastern Europe. He was told to standbye and then I was asked how much longer I required for my training. I needed two more circuits so I replied that I needed half an hour.
