It looks like ver.di are striking on Monday 22nd affecting LH flights, does anyone know how they prioritise which routes to keep going?

I'm due to fly ABZ - FRA - IAH, it wouldn't be the end of the world if it was cancelled... :E

They will apparently publish a list of cancelled flights tonight. For sure the domestics will be the first to suffer. I'm affected too. Unfortunately you can't change a reservation for free until the list has been published and your flight(s) are listed as cancelled. I objected to that policy trying to make a change this morning, to no avail. Last year I had a similar situation with Air France. In their case, several days in advance it was made possible to make free changes irrespective of whether the flight would be cancelled or not. To play safe I changed but noted that the flight I'd been originally booked on did operate. Anyway, well done AFR and poor show DLH as far as I'm concerned.

I received an SMS on the Saturday afternoon to say my flight LHR-MUC was cancelled. Couldn't get any response from the UK or German help lines and the web servers were unreachable all Saturday.
Luckily for me I wasn't so far from LHR so popped on the train to the ticket office Sunday morning where they sorted me out promptly.
When normal services resumed on the help desks and web services I have no idea.
Now comes the fun part of applying for compensation...............

As Regulation 261 envisions 'strikes' as being an extraordinary circumstance I would doubt that you are entitled to cash compensation.

Reroute or refund and meal and accommodation expenses, depending on the circumstances - Yes.

oops my poor wording, I meant to make a claim for the following:
- extra night hotel accommodation required.
- extra night car parking at the airport.
- train ticket to LHR to rebook as it was not possible to call their UK or German help line and websites were down ( screenshots made).
As stated before I was very lucky to be near LHR as it was just not possible IMHO to rebook via the telephone or web.
Lets see how it goes!

They may cover your expenses, let us know if they do.

For sure I will update the forum when I get a response from LH.
What was a surprise for me was that once I received the SMS noting the flight cancellation being able to rebook via the phone or internet was just not possible.
I tried both German and UK helplines, just kicked out of the German one and the English version just kept playing intermittent music and then a period of silence. The mobile web site and main site were both not accessible even 11 hours later!
I understand that Amadeus host the LH booking system so presumed it was totally overloaded with requests once the strike details were known.
I had expected more from LH and it I was very lucky to be near LHR at the time.

As discussed here is the outcome

My wife and I were delayed by the strike, LH have agreed to pay the hotel bill for the extra night and give me 100 euros voucher to spend in their online shop.
They will not pay for the extra days parking incurred or compensate me for the fact I had to take a days vacation due to the strike.
They have told me the matter is closed and they will not comment any further.
Overall have I had generally had good experiences with this Airline but was unhappy with their response. Not sure if I should have expected more but they have gone down a few notches in my estimation.

Shouldn't your gripe be with the union involved ?

My earlier post today was solely my opinion on how LH handled my request for expenses etc.
I know that the union Verdi caused this action. This was not the purpose of my post.
