My PCCW fees are going up by 20% so I'm now voting with my feet!:ok:

Can anyone in living in DB let me know if they switched from PCCW to HKBN?
HKBN fees are 40% cheaper on their normal service and 10% cheaper on the fiber service(if you can get it to your home).

Lastly, If you switch to HKBN does it effect your Now TV package?:confused:

I've been with HKBN for a year now and I have never looked back. PCCW are a bunch of crooks. HKBN $269.00 per month includes 1000M internet, home phone, free WIFI in town and you actually get to talk to someone if you have a problem. They have a shop on the second floor in the DB plaza.

I moved flats last year and when PCCW wanted exorbitant fees to relocate their service, I voted with my feet and switched to HKBN. I am very pleased with HKBN's excellent internet fiber-optic product.....

PCCW does provide a better TV product in NOW TV (for the time being) but their ridiculous fees and annoying contract obligations are nothing more than a monopolistic money grab.

Thank goodness for the competition of "market forces"....maybe PCCW will get the message when their revenue dries up.

Raven, 100% correct!!

The $hit we almost had to go through when moving to another address was worse than highway robbery, but as the PCCW rep told us(& perhaps should not have) "all we want to do is lock you into a contract". On hearing that we went with another carrier and have not looked back!

PCCW SOB's!!!

I have been with HKBN for over a year, having spent the previous decade with PCCW.

I would have switched to anyone just to get away from PCCW. Poor service and a very unreliable product. Every time it rained we would get cut off for 2 or 3 days. Whenever someone new moved into the building, someone else would loose their service.

HKBN are far better. The free IDD is definitely saving us money.

Whenever the PCCW sales people knock on my door I call Security and Management to get them kicked out of the building.

Ditto. Had to move, terrible experience with PCCW... router box burning out every few months, happened total of 6 times over 2 years; took days to get service back up and running each time, kept getting promised 1 mnth's free service for the inconvenience, then simply billed us each month as if nothing was said. Upon relocating were told relocation fees would be north of $1000 HKD... so dumped Netvigator and switch to the HKBN with the 1000M cable... world of difference. Got a promotional package for DB that included 60 channels on their cable for 189.00/mnth plus free reinstallation fee in case of another move within the 24-mnth contract. Also didnt have HKBN at our new place, but their cable guy came up and ran a new cable to our flat. Total installation time took about 50 minutes to run the cable to the main and get everything setup.

If PCCW isn't literally the worst Internet Service Provider in the world they must be quite near the bottom. Good riddance PCCW. Hopefully forever.

PCCW wanted $680 to move my service within DB. Changed to HK Broadband, slightly cheaper, fast (fibre) and two months free!

sigh....down in Aus paying $550HKD (equiv) per month for a shi!!y 2MB/s connection coming through 60yr old copper wires.....

Stupid question but if you were to change from PCCW to HKBN would you lose your @netvigator.com email?

HKBN does not cover the whole of DB yet...real pitty...would love to stick it to PCCW....oh I did cancel my land line after a 50% increase in rental fee! Now they have a 100% reduction in rental fee from me!!!

Yes, you will lose your @netvig.....com address. This will cost you 15 to 20 minutes of your life to sort out. Big Fu#king Deal.

I suggest you transition to an independent email service asap. This will ensure that the transition causes minimal inconvenience. Keep this as your primary email for the long term, so that you will not consider any subsequent change of Service provider as an inconvenience in the future.

Companies such as PC @W rely on people being too lazy to deal with the minor inconveniences of changing service providers. Complaining etc has no effect on their level of service. Fair competition and the subsequent loss of business seem to be the only way for anyone to actually get fair service for a fair deal. Good luck!

Wow, just realised that my netvigator internet fees have been raised by no less than 69%!!!!
Now $376, was $223. (30 Meg)
Not only that, but there does not seem to be a consistent charge. Different people get the same service for different amounts.
Well I am voting with my feet also.
Those who worry about losing a netvigator e-mail address, consider this.
You will be leaving HKG sooner or later, and you will still want e-mail after you have gone.
So you will have to change eventually.

PCCW just raised my home line rental by 50%...so I canceled it and gave them a 100% decrease in fees!!!:D
