Truth Central article about 30 Cdo RM (http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/News-and-Events/Latest-News/2013/April/16/130416-Marines-Parachute-Into-Exercise)

"An element of the Lead Commando Group, SRS are a Pre Landing Force that seek a covert entry into enemy territory ahead of the main force to send back intelligence from the ground."

"One of the SRS Troop Commanders Captain Matt Hills said:
“As the lead element of the landing force we need to insert, covertly, by a number of different methods including boat, vehicle and parachute.
“It is vital we maintain our parachute capability in order to be as flexible as possible across a broad range of potential reconnaissance tasks.”"

I hear the MoD UFO team (well one bloke really) was dispanded a while back. Who are these Scotish Islanders going to report the sighting of these flying saucers too? At least there is some good photographic evidence of the existance of the same.

If a PR person knows about your unit, you aren't covert.

That is the reality of 21st century. Our fools at high levels have seen to that, on our side of the pond.

I blame the photographer!

He should have taken that picture at night, in total darkness without any lighting when no doubt this unit will be doing their thing!!

It might sound hard to believe but I have seen pictures of stealth aircraft flying in broad daylight!!!

I'm sorry Captain Mills, but if that is covert I'm a monkey's uncle

I was just thinking the same. The picture may not have been quite as meaningful to many readers - mostly those that don't know what a parachute looks like, obviously - if it had looked like this

Hi Courtney,
;)Great picture which I had also seen but I was concerned it might be in breach of the official secret act. Showing this type of equipment in use is bad form but the image certainly highlights just how covert it really is :D

Well done for posting it and I will certainly come and visit you should you get that knock on the door.;)

You know me, Mate. Livin' on the edge. It wouldn't have been so bad if I could have found one that didn't show the, erm, you know what. Fortunately, in the right light it just looks like a little white square.

"More than a dozen Royal Navy ships and submarines are involved in the exercise which will take place off the East and West Coasts of Scotland for the next fortnight."

Do we have that many these days?

That's about the lot, not including a handful of survey boats, Protector and the URNU PBs :(

Taking us back back won't be a problem, in fact give it 6 months and the Flag-waver's will be falling over their Buckfast Bottles to have the 'Jack flying over Auld Reekie again.

Just one problem though, Could you make sure that you bring plenty of 5.56mm with you as I suspect we will need a lot of ex-Poli's/traitors dispatched. :E

In the public domain
HMS Bulwark, HMS Sutherland, HMS Montrose, survey ship HMS Echo and submarine HMS Talent, HMS Illustrious Type 45 destroyer HMS Diamond, HMS Westminster and HMS Richmond.

Mine-hunters (HM Ships Brocklesby, Hurworth, Pembroke and Grimsby) will also be providing the mine-counter-measures capability. All the ships will be supported by supply ship Royal Fleet Auxiliary Lyme Bay.

I dread to think what is left once ships in refit, operational training\work-ups and maybe leave periods are taken into account.
