What a horrendous deal. All these Chinese contracts "promise" a base in the future. You would have to be pretty dense to believe that lie.

Option of 6 weeks on 2 weeks off. Wow, gee, where do I sign up? That is a pretty crap offer. So is 10 days off per month on the second option, with only one 6 day cluster to get home. Cut out two days to travel and that is a whopping 4 days at home per month.

:ugh:

Apparently the idea of bases being a thing of the past at CX is beginning to sink in with some F/Os leaving plus a couple of captains.

No problem for the airline, they'll be replaced by upgraded cadets on their miserable package, who won't be offered bases as there will be no additional savings.

Having said that, unless CX throws these guys a fricken bone, the Swire Group may eventually solve Emirates' crewing needs for that airline's further expansion. There are some interesting numbers being bandied about on the Middle East forum.
