It's very good to see such expressions of hope, both in operating and the plans for the future. Best wishes to these people getting the airline running safely and efficiently again - if that can happen there is hope for Afghanistan.

I like this part:

After all, this is the airline that began domestic flights in December despite an unexploded bomb in the middle of the runway. The airplane used the taxiway to take off and land.

One aircraft, 1600 employees...sounds like an average fleet-to-staff ratio for those parts. Bit like MEA, Kuwait Awys, etc... :D

What happened to the Ariana a/c that was hijacked to STN on an Afghan internal flight a couple of years back? Forfeited against debts?

I agree with SC...good luck to Ariana - an heroic example of aviation making a positive contribution to a nation and a community...it has kept flying when most money-obsessed western airlines would have pulled out long, long ago....
