After reading the recent thread on the course at CRM at White Waltham, just curious to see if anyone has had any recent view of the course as mentioned above, just shopping around and getting views. Seems as the best part of it is the full motion B747-400 simulator. Thoughts welcomed as hoping to sign up very soon.

Why complete an non techincal course (MCC) on one of the most complex aircraft operating at more money than CRM are offering? Yes, I did my MCC at CRM - excellent. I went on the MCC because it was a requirement before application and to learn multi crew operations. To benefit me the most from this requirement I chose CRM, for their simulator, reputation and cost. Not a decision I regretted. I'm sure European are a reputable school but in my (inexperienced view to some) wrong sim to teach MCC requirements without becoming over engrossed in trying to operate the type.

Again, just my personal opinion.

V1rotate1 Thanks for your reply, I agree with your thoughts, was purely seeing if there was any pros and cons from both company's/courses. I'm certainly not in a rush to spend extra money when it's not needed, I'm sure it's good, just seems like a gimmick (forgive the use of phrase) but a full motion simulator is good fun, but obviously were looking at the bigger picture! Cheers

I did mine at European, great school. Nothing negative to say about them. The instructors are brilliant. Great fun as well doing it in a 74.

Without doubt the most enjoyable part of the entire cpl/ir exercise so far

Thanks UAV689, I have some thinking to do, just got to look into accomodation and what is involved, unless you take what they offer, the outside options are quite expensive at both places

I did mine there, a few years ago now (2008) and can only echo what was said above, great place with great staff, nearly an interview with them to but didnt have 500 hours, one of them situations where the chief bod popped his head in and said 'I've heard you're all good guys anyone with 500hours?' This was when they were running 737s for Palmair

I stayed in a caravan on a site about 2 miles away, literaly at the threshold end of R26 if you look on google earth, cost £10 a night in one of their caravans.

Even though the course didnt run at weekends I'd stayed over and was allowed to sit in the sim motion off or if it was in use then the cardboard version so as to familiarise myself and run through touch drills.

As for the complex aircraft worry, there isnt one, you learn your stuff and go and put it into practice, it flies like any other aircraft and as its not a type rating you're not bogged down with T/R stuff, its learning how to work multi crew and thats what matters. For what you do in the sim aircraft wise its no more complicated than what you've done previously, just with another person, crew & pax to bring into the equation and the benefits and possible pitfalls that can bring.

I also saw it as a point on my personal learning curve, a next step/challenge after twin piston I/R and felt a full motion jet would be a great experience and an insight into what the future holds When I stepped into the cockpit it felt like an achievement on its own that I'd gained a qualificaion that allowed me to be there...might just be me but there you go and it was good for motivation for the hardest part, 1st job!

The MCC for me was the most enjoyable part of training.

Did the 737-200 MCC there. All good. No complaints.
