It doesn't seem to give too much info about either Biggles or W E John with regards to their retirement. The fact that the RAF does not seem to have any records of Major Bigglesworth and that the story is based on a "combat report" found in a manuscript of one of his books sounds a bit thin. Ive never heard of the Special Air Police, apart from in the Biggles books! I suspect someone's idea of an April Fool prank :confused:

Did he enjoy a long retirement on the beaches of San Seriffe? "Biggles The Authorised Biography" by John Pearson is surely the definitive account of Biggles' retirement. He spent it living in Ferndene Cottage, Camberley. The last anyone saw of him was at a Tangmere Battle of Britain anniversary display where he stole a Mark VI Spitfire, led the flypast and then flew off "into the sun".
