Airbus Broughton Testing

Hi everyone I am new to the forum.

I will be attending an assessment test at Deeside College on Sat 6th April for the Craft Apprenticeship scheme at Airbus Broughton. Was wandering if anyone had some insight or knows of example questions on the web? The test includes numeracy, literacy and technical understanding.

The first two elements should require no research as they will have been covered at school.

I would suggest however, that you study and understand the theory regarding pulleys / levers and basic mechanical principles.Fractions may also come in useful.

Search the web using those terms. A lot of initial testing for tech jobs eg RN,RAF & Army use similar style of testing,have a scan on the net there is plenty of stuff to look at. Good Luck!

Thanks very much for your advice, yes I was more concerned about the technical understanding aspect as you say the literacy and numeracy is pretty self explanatory. Cheers again.

I think Turin was making a reference to your use of the term

"wandering"....which is defined as to "move in an aimless way"

rather than the use of

"wondering"...which is to question....

You might want to brush up on the literacy part of the test ;)

Hi mate, i did this test a few years ago, i did pass but i decided not to proceed as i got offered something elsewhere, i wouldn't worry to much provided you are clued up on the basics.

From what i remember there was an english reading test, basically you read a paragraph and then have to choose what statement is true from the paragraph, a lot of it is based on Airbus and health and safety! There was also a test which tested your understanding of a paragraph, for example there would be a partial sentence and you would then select from four choices which part would make sense to finish it.

There was a maths test which was basic GCSE maths, such as percentages, division etc, very easy, you can use a calculator from what i remember so don't forget one. I remember also there were quite a few questions like if you had X amount of passengers on a plane, paying this amount, how much does it cost per seat and it then expands into VAT and stuff like that. It isn't hard if your fine at GCSE level maths.

Technical understanding i can't remember to much but i do remember one or two just asked what a certain action on something would do. For example you would be presented with several gears in sequence and the question would ask if gear 1 turned in this direction, which direction would gear 3 go in etc. This is pretty impossible to revise but i wouldn't worry to much.

You might want to brush up on the literacy part of the test

Probably no need as long as you keep the spill chucker away from your text.

This poem has been around in some form for at least 20 years, probably written about 1 hour after first autocorrect spell checker was released:

@squarehole - thanks very much for all your help mate that has put my mind at rest. I`m looking forward to it really, it starts at 11.30am and I finish my night shift at Liverpool Airport 8am so got about an hour to rest up! Will let you know how I get on.

Well that`s it done now I have to wait for the email from Airbus. I think it went OK but there were a few parts of my brain that I haven`t scratched for a number of years! That scrap paper they provided came in very handy. We weren`t allowed to use calculators which is a good way to separate the men from the boys. It was fifty questions in an hour with a smattering of literacy, a big chunk of numeracy and then three technical questions at the end. I know I only got two out of three in the technical so I hope that hasn`t scuppered my chances. Fingers crossed :)

Apologies for hijacking the thread!

Does anyone have experience of their undergraduate assessment tests? Do they use SHL aptitude testing or is it paper based?

I have five years experience as a Trolly Dolly, in the Sandpit, before I came home to sit my A Levels. Will that be viewed favourably or is making tea and operating doors not much of a deal in manufacture? I imagine any experience with their product would be a plus point?

The only information I have is to revise A Level Maths and Physics and that there will be a group selection test and interview. I'd like to give myself the best possible chance of getting this. I quit my job in the Gulf and repatriated to the cold weather to get my engineering ticket and have been through hell and high water to do so! I'm determined to get there even if it means the traditional Uni route and I apply as a graduate with a First Class Honours in my pocket.

Joining Airbus as an undergraduate would be a dream come true for me.
