Dear users,
i need a very honest and and straightforward answer.
I have been offered a flying job as A320 F/O in Tajikistan. The hub will either be Kuliab, or another town outside the capital city Dushambe flying to Moscow or Chiliabinsk.
Now here's the dilemma: not knowing the place, he culture and how the living standards are would any one of you have any idea how flying in this country is?
ive heard few things, which certainly are not very inviting to go there.
Please help.

As Captain, treat it as an adventure, and set your own standards if the ones you find don't meet your requirements. . if that doesn't work. . move on.

However, as a First Officer your enjoyment of the position will very much depend on what proportion of the Capts are locals vs what proportion are expats on a contract.

If more of the former, treat it as an advanced CRM course if you need the cash.

It is a very nice place and great people!
The airport is strangled in ex soviet way of life, but all in all its ok.

Large UN presence and French foreign legion in the city.

As far as the per crew is concerned ill be the only one Non-Russian speaker that making it the only 'expat'. Not to make it an issue but to add to that, am also mixed race, so double trouble. I dont want to sound tragic but are things ive heard from ppl otherwise i would never bring such 'colour' issue out.
Is flying out of Kuliab and Qurghonteppa the same as out of Dushanbe? how are these two cities?
Thanks for all your help

Lack of Russian will be an issue, colour less so.

Being in the same situation as you almost back in '04 I can say my lack of Russian at the time really was a problem - so much so that I spent a considerable amount of my time learning it (forget the Tajik) now ya govoroo pa-russki nyet ochen horosho... ploxo... but arguably passable.

A real adventure you will either love or hate. I don't think I met anybody who was kind of in the middle.

Good luck.
