anyone would have an insight of the reason why Stelios is stepping down? is it part of his strategy or does it hide sth?

Absolutely nothing to panic about. Stelios has not been involved in the day-to-day running of eJ for a couple of years now as he has concentrated on other 'easyGroup' businesses. As the statement says, he is an entrepreneur and has no particular wish to be running a major PLC.

He was always going to withdraw at some point now that the company is a PLC. Some concerns expressed regarding corporate governance at the recent AGM have prompted the board re-structure to happen now, but that also was inevitable given the growth of the company.

This issue has been covered in depth in the City press and if you follow these matters you'll know that there is a high level of confidenece in the low cost airline market. Stelios's move was well timed and spot on for a business which has now matured.

Shame Stelios can't reply for himself but his history shows an imaginative ground breaker, rather than a drudger. (Sprinter rather than stayer, in bike racing terms).

My guess is that there are so many new ideas whizzing in that still quite young brain of his, that he just has to go and try them out.

He's got the money and time to do it too. (yep - I'm jealous!!)
