For all you young thrusters ...

LinkedIn RAF Leadership Centre (http://lnkd.in/PS3B4j)

The RAF Leadership Centre is LIVE on Linkedin.

We are the definitive point for Leadership support and development in the RAF.

We provide training guidance, academic advice, horizon scanning for latest leadership research, the RAF mentoring programme for the whole force, pan-branch and pan-rank attention.

The group exists to further the leadership debate, generate understanding of what we can do to support you, promote courses and initiatives. We'd like to invite applications to get involved.

For serving Regular and Volunteer Reserve personnel ...

"Horizon scanning"

Why can none of these people speak normally?

The B Word ... You're probably right re "pencil necks" ... but the idea of providing a mentoring network isn't that bad ... provided it is done properly. Just think of the wide experience available from this forum if it could be taped constructively ... At all cost mentors must refrain from the "in my day we did it like this" mentality. The selection of the right type of mentor is crucial ... but what tends to happen is that self interested careerists tend to collect a mentoring "badge" as an aid to their own progression.

Coff.

PS. Horizon Scanning ... I thought that's what "move your bl**dy head and keep a good look out" meant when shouted from the back seat by the QFI accompanied by a thud on the back of the Bonedome :E

SO2 Leadership Development - RAF Leadership Centre

That sounds like a barrel of joy.....:\

Don't they teach Adair's magic circles at IOT these days? Or is everyone too busy jockstrapping and playing at being pongos nowadays?

"Leadership Centre" used to be called "crewroom".

Dare say I picked up some useful tips, from the old and bold, during happy hour.

Morning prayers (where it happened) was also very useful for sharing experience and keeping up with what was going on around the bazaars.

Sqn Cdrs used to work hard to bring on their Flt Cdrs; Flt Cdrs used to work hard to bring on their guys and gals; etc etc down the chain.

If your people didn't do well YOU were the failure so you sat up and paid attention to their needs.

OCC was a pain in the neck but it did give you some ideas to work on (It's still there but gawd knows what it's called these days).

In other words leadership training is organic to the military community. It still is (I understand).

This so called leadership centre is simply an add on which exploits recent technology (and probably keeps some contractors in a job). It doesn't replace the real stuff.

Don't despair!
