"pilot may have wandered off"

The search for pilot of a downed helicopter will continue in bush near Turangi this morning.

Contact with the Robinson R-66 was lost yesterday afternoon.

The wreckage was spotted yesterday evening about 7pm last night.

A rescue helicopter crewman was winched down to the crash site, but the pilot could not immediately be found.

A police spokesman said it was not clear if the pilot was somewhere in the wreckage, or had wandered off.

The rescue helicopter could not stay over the crash site for long as it needed to refuel, and light was fading.

No emergency beacon was activated.

Matari

Are you talking about the accident in NZ?

1. The link didn't work... Might just be my internet, I'm away from home at the moment.
2. I didn't think we had an NTSB. CAA and TAIC, maybe.
3. Our government websites are .govt.nz not .gov

Just asking, maybe NTSB have referenced it?

SuperF,

The link is a bad one.
However, this should work: Untitled Page (http://www.ntsb.gov/aviationquery/brief2.aspx?ev_id=20130313X64902&ntsbno=WPR13WA149&akey=1)

And yes, the FAA NTSB will list foreign accidents that happens with US manufactured aircrafts to my knowledge.

Thanks guys, I learnt something today, didn't realize the FAA listed them all.

Hope that they figure out what happened.
