PPRuNe Combine … PPRuNe Combine …

I'm bringing forward the issue of this NOTAM as further pre-match Comms, Sourcing and Logistical Planning maybe necessary for some operational personnel.

The Match coincides with Mother's Day … So as to ensure uninterupted viewing it is highly recommended that adequate planning is undertaken to ensure visits, flowers, cards, telephone calls, lunches etc. are all executed well before 1430 Hrs this coming Sunday. Special attention is advisable for those who have offspring at University and who are not returning home for the weekend by ensuring said offspring make an effort to contact their Mother's (All forms of Social Media Messaging and Texting are considered inappropriate for such purposes).

If there are any Aircrew possessing tickets for uniformed attendance, as with the last Twickenham Match, in the event they may appear on TV, a discrete signal may be appropriate to acknowledge PPRuNe solidarity. Solidarity in this context will mean "nice one chaps glad you're drinking for us while we are on duty" :}.

Some of us in foreign parts have to watch the game a day or two later.

May I ask that any threads post-match be titled 'England Game' or similar, rather than something which gives the result away!

...unlike last time...:{

Thank you .............. never mind Italy, what about the , er, other lot, the week after?

[Thinks ......... is the England vs NZ cricket an OMEN?]

I think I might arrange an alternative activity for the other lot game, otherwise the oaths and the shrill cries from erindoors [she is the big rugger fan] will be too much to bear. And she's so demanding on Stella stocks too.

England were woeful in stark contrast to their last 3 matches, yet they still beat an upbeat and developing Italian side. This will hopefully act as a stark reminder that they cannot assume tries will come to them and actually have to work for them. This result could act as a very useful kick up the 'r'se.

England will win on Saturday. :ok:

Milo, Sidevalve - many thanks for the links!

Pity only the Ireland-France game was worth watching!

Milo Minderbinder
11th Mar 2013, 19:17
I think you're all underestimating how well the Italians actually played.
Their harrasment of the English pack was quite effective, stopping England from passing the ball around. Disruption tactics - if the other team can't throw it around, they can't score. And of course when the Italians did attack, they kept it close to the pack. Short passes, no chancy stuff, so lots of close support, few drops and few chances of interception.
A classic example of how to disrupt the flow of play of a more skilled team.

CoffmanStarter
11th Mar 2013, 19:40
Agreed Milo ... But as I've said we'll take the win and leave Mr Lancaster to do the necessary :ok:

'Untrained' chimps could've scored, given the try opportunities absolutely butchered by the England backs & the Orcs weren't much better.
The Italians matched Englands physicality, demonstrated the teams lack of real strength in depth & an inability to adapt. They really are pretty ordinary !

1.3VStall
13th Mar 2013, 10:48
woptb,

You are right, they are pretty ordinary.

The amazing thing is they couldn't find enough rugby talent in the 50 million English residents, so they had to go to South Africa, the South Sea Islands and the Antipodes to find some more "Englishmen" for the team - and they were still cr@p against Italy.

Mick Strigg

I predict the English will be quiet on this thread. Their League of Nations rugby team wasn't up to much, so it's back across the Severn Bridge with their tails between their legs once again. Well played boyos!

Cardiff restaurant menu blackboard last night:

"Tender English lamb, locally slaughtered & well stuffed using traditional Welsh recipe"

Seriously, if you have never been to Millenium Stadium for a game like this, you have no idea of the pressure-cooker atmosphere. England were awe-struck & out-classed.

Surprised that they had the roof closed; they normally have it open, so God can watch Wales win....................
