I would like to move the Navigation, Tabs and Bookmarks toolbars around vertically but cannot find any way to do it. I'm sure earlier versions allowed? At the moment I have Menu/Tabs/Nav/Bookmarks

right click on the top and you get the toolbar selection menu....click menu bar. Then the menus reappear

Interesting, I tend to use Pale Moon nowadays, but I've checked in FF and it's there in my version which is V19.0.2

Strange. Milo - I have the 'View/Toolbars/ option but no Tabs on top. Is there a setting in about:config?

sorry - I misled you. You're right - no "icons on top" option even with the menu bar enabled. I misunderstood what you were after

Good, but it still doesn't account for the reason I've got it listed as a toolbar option in V19 but you haven't.:confused:

19.0 here?

19.0.2 here and tabs on top is a menu item.

Toggling in about:config is the same as ticking / unticking the menu item.

Win 7 here, Aero off - does it work differently with Win XP?

I've just checked another Win 7 PC that I haven't updated to FF 19.0.2, so it's just 19.0.

It's got the tabs-on-top menu item also.

Another of life's mysteries. Having 'ackled' about:config I now have the menu item.

My curiosity has been aroused. Menus/tabs running vertically would help me, never even thought of it until I saw this thread.

I can't find it as an option. What/where is about:config? Sorry, dumb question.

I think you have the wrong end of the stick here Pelikal, the menu and tab bars still run horizontally, but the tab position is moved above or below the address bar.

about:config is a feature of Mozilla applications which lists application settings (known as preferences) that are read from the profile files prefs.js and user.js, and from application defaults. Many of these preferences are not present in the Options or Preferences dialog. Using about:config is one of several methods of modifying preferences and adding other "hidden" ones.

See: About:config - MozillaZine Knowledge Base (http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config)

Bookmarks and History can be moved to the side via 'View'.

Ahh! The wrong end of the stick. Yup, I've got it now....:O
