Does anyone here remember what this was:
29.5 R dot + 9000 feet.
No, but I'm sure you'll tell us. :)

Then there were "The Ghosts of 29 megacycles"
Don't mock.

No I don't. Just a guess, was it a rule of thumb for calculating a parameter from a radar picture? Use of steering symbology in lock mode?

Something out of ‘computer red’ ?
Probably not kinematic ranging as the R dot is already there.
So 29.5 R dot at Mach 2 closure (2000 ft/sec); approx … 60000ft (10 nm) + 9000ft = firing range ?
But what about ABC ?

That's the kind of thing I was thinking, Safety. Clues, LM?
P.S. This is a good one.

Turn in range (or range to start offset) to achieve a tail solution for early Firestreak???
OK OK I'm a mud mover, but it's an OK guess! ;)

29" + 5" = 34A cup size ... 9,000 feet ... the minimum proximity limit of my restraining order :E
Being a gentlemen ... I won't mention the significance of R dots :=

Coffman, I'm pretty sure that would be a 29 E. :ok:

Very Good question !
I'm thinking it must be a Red Top snap up for a head on supersonic target - that's without reference to my notes!
Does anyone have any Lightning Radar film ? -, I have a cassette from the spine of one the last Lightnings which may have some footage but still not got round to developing it ! In hope SF

Time to go switching

Yes it was indeed.
If I remember it was for a Red Top stern attack when the programme switched from quasi-lead pursuit to pure pursuit.

Since we are re-visiting long forgotten tactics and procedures:
"Steer's in for Point Alpha, track freeze....."
Which direction do you expect to turn, by how much and where will you be when you get there?

The fashionable wife of a famous footballer? On a big day?
Ah LM !! Did that not depend on the K Factor?

Was that not Firestreak?

'If I remember it was for a Red Top stern attack when the programme switched from quasi-lead pursuit to pure pursuit.'
Thanks goodness. I'm not sure I would have slept tonight had I not known.....
:)
Not according to my memory LM!
Then I guess you do not recall the Red Top Azimuth Look Angle Limit?:ok:

Ah, the winged messenger, Walt. Supposedly he was quite well endowed, since you ask.

“quasi-lead pursuit to pure pursuit.” ?
Not sure about that; perhaps quasi-lead pursuit in the rear hemisphere to collision-course in the front.
‘Phi (demanded manoeuvre) = K PHI sightline rate’. Also the switching changed the fusing according to ABC. … More sleepless nights.
Did inches of mercury come into it? Only West of Valley.
Now where did all of that useless gen come from at my age?
