In a discussion with a colleague in Vero Beach, FL, I learned that there have been many miscommunication incidents - including runway incursions - involving international students, particularly those from Asia.

Here's one approach for students to use prior to beginning training in the US or OZ that looks promising:

ULEADAIR "The Leading Edge in Aviation English Training" - YouTube (http://youtu.be/N___ST-1uo0)

It uses live one-on-one pilot/controller interaction.

The problem is they go to the USA with broken English at best and are being thrown straight into flying with little or no improvement than what they came with. Flying in the Orlando/Daytona/Ocala areas and you constantly hear the ATC having to repeat basic transmissions several times before usually the instructor (American) will take over, the scary thing is that they usually are carrying out instrument training at that point and the English still hasn't improved.
