A new government fat cat plan.

Fire service in the North-East to be "privatised" next year (From The Northern Echo) (http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/10264106.Fire_service_in_the_North_East_to_be__privatised__n ext_year/)

So If a certain company that stuffed up the Olympics contract, get the contract can we expect to see the Green Godesses on the streets again? Hang on they've sold them all so I guess the forces types that are called out when you know who stuffs up like the Olympics, will just have to do what the Government have been doing to us for years. :}

Here's one of them.... purchased for about 1000 in 1975 or so... shipped to Cape Town and then driven to Luanshya, Zambia.

There was a project several years back to update the Green Goddess by adding power steering, diesel engine and an automatic geerbox along with improved safety and pumping capacity.. This was deemed too expensive and they were sold off. IIRC Marshall's of Cambridge were involved.

Marshall's of Cambridge were involved.
Logical, as Marshalls became the owner of Bedford and had the continuation of the military supply contract. The have the spares inventory (such as it is).
