I question the ability to achieve 93mph from a DAF XF105 fitted with this size of body and a 510HP engine.

Technical Specifications:

510bhp Diesel engine
Capable of 13mpg
Top speed of 93mph
Carbon rear diffuser with double sport exhaust
Aerodynamic design saves up to 20% on fuel cost
20 tonnes
40 feet in length
Shell constructed from glass fibre
Chassis is from a DAF XF105

They offered me one free in exchange for my sponsorship but I had to send it back - it was useless without a pool.

You won't see many of them over here and not just because of the price but rather because the vast majority of sites cannot accomodate such huge vehicles. Thank goodness! My humble little tin tent is fine for me and the dogs. :ok:

Lon More, this one's (http://www.home-designing.com/2012/11/1-2-million-luxury-caravan-by-volkner-mobil) quite a lot cheaper (and you can use both of your own eyes / lenses to steer the beast - Lr :ok:): http://www.home-designing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Hidden-garage.jpg

Even adding the cost of your choice of supercar...

There may still be a place for such large and extravagant motorhomes I guess. Certainly not in coastal towns say, in the south of France where you would never be allowed to park any motorhome along the seafront usually. But elsewhere perhaps, in the mountains and countrysides where these motorhomes don't block out all the daylight perhaps? And at the end of the day, however luxurious and expensive the motorhome, the shit tank will need emptying regularly etc. I think that if anyone really likes motorhomes, and can afford to fork out close to US$ 2 millions on their vehicles, they might as well also buy their own MSV "motorhome support vehicle" and employ a driver to accompany them everywhere in this. Their MSV would be equipped with all the necessary fresh water / dirty water / shit tank capacities in addition to diesel and propane gas etc. so as to assure that the occupants of the "mother vehicle" are not bothered with such boring activities and can enjoy the view from their caravan park many kms. away from the sea.

To be frank, I never wanted to post in this thread, caravans and motorhomes are the preserve of the few such as DX Wombat. But in the back of my mind, I had memories of once having seen a report on at least a simple design concept of the ultimate motorhome suitable for an Arab oil-sheikh who might enjoy the odd weekend or 2 discovering the Sahara desert in suitable comfort. In fact, it was something like a motorhome built over one of those huge trucks normally used in the open-cast mining industry, but with several of them together to complete the whole vehicle like some sort of a desert train (the camels, together with all the more usual SUVs) being stored in one part, the servants, kitchens etc. in another, the water and fuel in yet another, leaving 2 or more parts dedicated to the (comparatively modest) living accommodations for the sheikh and his guests whilst out camping in the desert away from the palaces. Spent an hour on Google, couldn't find any trace of any of it anywhere. Must have deen dreaming... :(

I did come across quite a few photos of that particular Abu Dhabi royal's collection of over-sized jeeps etc. pvmw. Unfortunetly, "the ultimate motorhome suitable for an Arab oil-sheikh" I was alluding to is not one of those. Perhaps merely a design concept on some aspiring designer's website, now defunct. Now I think more about it, I wonder if I'm confusing everything with this, the Jawas' "sand-crawler" vehicle as portrayed in the Star Wars movies: http://www.geeksofdoom.com/GoD/img/2012/01/2012-01-06-sandcraw_tat-533x342.jpg

PS. Would imagine that the Cannes municipal police would have some problems "moving on" the owners of such a motorhome wishing to park in front of their Palais des Féstivales... ;)

I used to have a hostility suite when I went racing (converted horsebox) which provided basic accomodation for self and a couple of mates at the front and room for the car down the back, Leave the car out in the paddock and it was a good little party area. Unfortunately only used it for a couple of seasons.
Fancy something a bit more comfortable now.
Stateside i've seen a couple of very neat bus conversions. Best was a new Setra double decker wtith a small appartment for the chauffeur/cook down in the hold. Car (Cadilac) was on a suspended tow behind.
