Why do we need to complete an Alcohol course online during our own time?

That would drive anyone to drink:ugh:

They tried it on at KA, DPA said don't bother, so no one did it.

HKAOA says the same. Don't bother.

Lack of it certainly will.

Being nibbled to death by ducks. What's the count so far?

Own time completion of on-line 'prerequisites' for RT/PC
Own time annual route brief and quiz
Own time 'Discrimination in air travel' course
Own time 'Privacy Ordinance' course
Own time 'Harassment in the workplace' course
Own time annual tech quiz
Own time AEP study and quiz
Now own time completion of this 'D and A' nonsense.

The internet may be great for looking at porn, but the trouble is it also lets any little office jobsworth inflict legal ass-covering drivel on those who do the real work.

There are also implications regarding whether some of these online 'courses' are in fact 'duties' and applicable to FTL's. Some info, recommendations and opinions are on the AOA fora.

Ah . . Dart, as Yeager posted five years ago -

One must wonder how it all ever got so much out of control. Its a sad, sad story and set up Cathay Pacific management has managed to create.
I am happy that I did not have to witness the nasty 00-01' pilot dispute and even more happy about not having to witness the next one.

One thing you gotta credit CX for - they have managed to mis-manage all round - and not just here and there. Full credit on that.

The story of the years of good sense and sensible, hands-on, gutsy and respect commanding airline management is now only to be found in the histories that some have gone to the trouble to pen for our edification. If you are to be nibbled to death by ducks, as you say, at least console yourself it is not quite the steady drip agony of the Chinese water torture.

In my wild erratic fancy, visions come to me of .. . . Balfe and Purvis and Uren.

Ha.. Thx for the quote - I stand by (of course) my statement - Cathay is still a ****ty setup - surely its a source of income for a lot of people - but thats all it is - it's managed in a sick, sick way.. Main problem for the pilot group - there's way to many wankers in the rank of trainers and chief's!! :ok:

Keep sending them up boyz :D
