I don't believe this has featured yet in a thread.

BBC News - Sir Arthur 'Bomber' Harris interview uncovered (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-21400427)

The 3.5 min clip is tantalising - but does nail the big myth. But I doubt they'll apologise. I only wish my father was able to see this.

Only available in the UK. How might we in Oz get to see?

I had the privilage to meet and escort the great man, his wife and daughter, when they visited Hendon in about 1980. Sir Arthur was there to donate his uniforms and medals and to sign a limited edition print. He was accompanied by a number of ex-Dambusters, several of whom stayed in the Officers Mess at Hendon the night before.

Sir Arthur arrived in an MOD 'roller' with army driver, as befits a Marshal.

The ex-DB guys were in complete awe of him, as was I. He stood with his hands thrust in his blazer pockets and spoke about the bomber offensive for about twenty minutes without notes, hestitation and in a strong and clear voice. We had lunch in the Battle of Britain Museum - which amused him.

After his death, I was at his memorial service in Westminster Abbey and was seated amongst the Pathfinder crews of 8 Group, which was another humbling experience.

For anybody interested - I urge a visit to the Bomber Command Memorial opposite the RAF Club. The statues of the seven man bomber crews are exceptional and I found the place very moving.

If you've got a PC then Expat Shield (http://www.expatshield.com/) will probable do it for you. It enables me to get BBC iplayer when I'm outside the UK. I don't think it works on a mac though.
