What's the approximate salary for a Caravan pilot flying freight? In my area (SF Bay area), FedEx uses Caravans out of OAK to run to a few not so huge cities (Monterey, Santa Rosa, etc), for example.

Second part of the question is: how difficult is it to land these Caravan cargo jobs? Is there a ton of competition for instance?

Empire starts out around $32,000 a year, Mountain Air Cargo around $34,000. You'll break 40k after four or five years. They're looking for 2000TT and 1000+PIC. Down side is you normally live at the outstation. Get up in the evening, fly to the hub and sit a few hours and fly home in the morning.
