Here is a new Post about the recent A330 recruitment process from THY.
Any comment welcome:ok::=:eek::D

It looks like a good contract...3weeks on/1off with the possibility to go home after a long LH duty.

3 weeks on, 1 week off seems good, while many other offer 14 days on, 14 days off?
And up to 30% more salary?

If there are many, I don't know one in A330 except Arik Air which doesn't fly...:eek:

It isn´t the best pay for a senior FO with many hours on type but also not the worst.

Basic pay (70 Std.): FO11.521,-TL
CDR 18.029,-TL
Bonus (every 3 months): FO5.951,-TL
CDR 8.862,-TL
Total (monthly): FO13.505,-TL
CDR 20.983,-TL
Sunday / national holidays: FOca. 300,-TL
CDR ca. 450,-TL

You have to deduct 5% for the Tax. There is an additional medical insurance. Pension and housing are up to you if I get it right?

Any idea if they would ever upgrade an expat FO?????

THY will not upgrade an expat FO since local FOs also waiting about 6-9 years.

I am 13 years in the right seat and occasionally in the left.
Waiting another 6 years would be ok.... but if they won't at all, I better let it be.

There are not too many Companies, better said it is rare, that ExPat Pilots are seen as a equal employee and get the same treatment then locals.

Look in the Orient and you are there to fill a seat, do a job, get paid and as long as there is a National Pilot F/O the Expat F/O will not move to the left seat, regardless that he has more hours, more years and more of anything else. National pride could be hurt. As soon as those Nationals go abroad they demand the same and equal treatment and if they do not get it they call the hosts racists, maybe a look into the mirror would help first.

As long as you will not get in in bold letter writing, that you will get a position in the seniority list, stay away if your goal is a Command Position by joining THY, or any similar outfit anywhere else. If you are out of a Job and look for a source to generate some income then you can go that track for a while but remember You are the ExPat - F/O. Same for Cpt, your Job is to do the Job.

You are there because no other national Pilot is at the moment available to do the job. Be aware as soon as there is any your job is on the line..... You can sue them whereever you want and get nowhere except back home and have to start allover again.

Sorry if that sounds negative but that is what I have seen there and somewhere else in the West and the East when it comes to upgrade non national Pilots.

Ok, even if they consider the contract as a direct placement with an open ending,... it isn´t???
So no career. Just filling the seat until a local comes around? Ok. another reason not to join. Not that I blame them. We see it a bit different in western Europe I guess.

SAS only accepts scandies, KLM only want dutch people, Finnair only hire locals etc. Why would Turkish differ?

You are just a quick fix because of the lack of qualified locals. Turkey is very different to Europe and don't go there with a hope of making a nice career and being treated with western manners. They have no understanding of your commuting needs and in Turkey and the rest of the ME you work very hard and unions are not even legal. If you're out of a job or want to save money and make some hours it could be a nice option. Otherwise think it through thoroughly. Once a local is ready to take your seat, he will do so.

Air France, Klm, British Airways, Lufthansa are recruiting non locals.
The only requirement is to speak the local language (which is normal) and be european.
Then you are in the seniority list and, yes, you are upgraded.
Turkish offers now permanent contracts:D and there is a list too.
If you learn the language, there is no reason why you would not be upgraded.

So can you confirm that it is a fact that you get on the seniority list and you will be upgraded? I assumed you would, then I was told otherwise and now again.:confused:

You will be told you will be eligible for upgrade, and you will be on a list, but think how long this list is! Its not just hours but time with the company that counts. Some guys moving to 330 from 737 after 16 years now. Do not expect a fast track (less than 3 yrs) upgrade,it won't happen. Very few foreign pilots have been upgraded.

There are two seniority lists...one for the locals, and another one for the second rate foreign pilots...

At least there IS a list, in a lot of airlines, the foreigners do not even appear on any list, they are there to do their job, shut up and leave as soon as a local can take their place.
