I'm sorry to be the bringer of sad news to his former colleagues and his many friends, but Pete has died, completely unexpectedly, of a heart attack at age 55 (he was off duty).

For those who knew him and would like to pay their respects, his widow Christine has told me the following:

"Peter's funeral and burial will take place on Thursday 25th April at 3.00 pm
at Dorchester Abbey (Oxfordshire, near Abingdon) and Clifden Hampden Church respectively. Family and close friends will be invited to the burial.

No flowers please but a donation to the BALPA Benevolent Fund or to the
Guild of Air Pilots Benevolent Fund would be appreciated (please mention in whose name you make the donation).

After the service at the Abbey people are invited to gather at the Chequers
in Burcot for refreshments."

Find this news difficult to believe. Not a close friend but have known him for some years and played a very small part in his transition to the civilian world.
Deepest condolences

Only met Pete once on a trip to NY. Had Thanksgiving Dinner with him and his wife. A thoroughly nice guy and one I am sure will be sorely missed.

My thoughts are with his family
