View Full Version : Freindly Fire

El Grifo

Can somone tell me what it is about the damned American Airforce that causes them to attack and kill their own troops, or troops allied to them, time after time after time.

We all know of their Hotshot Flyboy, Top Gun, Hollywood attitude, that is legendary. its just that no other Airfoce has a record of such carnage. Things are simply getting out of hand.

Am I not correct to say that friendly fire was responsible for more deaths in the Gulf War and the Bosnian Conflict, than enemy fire.

Are they going for a new record in the Afghan War/Conflict.

This is a disgraceful reflection on what is supposed to be a Professional Fighting Force

You are certainly right for UK forces in the Gulf - more killed by Americans than by Iraqis. No wonder we get irritated with Americans ...

These incidents are tragic and I wouldn't want to pretend otherwise, but to call the USAF cowboys is simply unfair. The fact that the US usually contribute 90% of the airpower in places like Bosnia, The Gulf and now Afghanistan means they're statistically the most likely to have "friendly fire" incidents.

Paterbrat

No " freind' of the US eh Grifo?

Never, happened in the British forces SC??

What is the point of running two thread's on here? you have one running on the military site.

are you mad? or do you work for the U S intelligence agency?

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 11:40
Nostradormant,
what's your prob. Can you simply not read or did you just get up too early this morning. Go back to your thread , read it again and apologise.
As for me running another similar thread on the miltary forum. well now we are in spooksville. I know nothing of that. kindly point to the thread and I will read it with interest

Paterbrat
19th Apr 2002, 11:41
He's not sure the subject is getting enough air time, and he surely doesn't work for any 'intelligence' agency US or otherwise.

Do the sensible thing and remove it. we have it covered I promise you.

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 14:16
Nostradamus,
I am not entirely sure what your problem is. All I can tell you is that I strated a thread with the same name, prior to yours, this morning. Thats All, nothing more.

I then proceeded to cut and paste my original posting on your similarly named thread, nothing more.

What are you wittering on about Military sites anf stuff. Its rather degrading to be treated like this on a public forum. Do me a favour, re-read my posting on your forum, point me to my supposed posting on the Miltary Forum, then get back to me. I realise YOU have the Friendly Fire thing well covered. what do I care, I just do not like all this derogatory stuff. Now go away and do what I say and get back to me with an undistorted view, eh Sir

Paterbrat

And here fellow ppruners we have a perfect example of friendly fire. Both on the same side swopping light banter

HugMonster

No, El Grifo. The other thread predates yours by 20 hours.

EL loco

You posted your point on the original thread, then put exactly the same thing on the thread that was already running
what was the point?

And if you started a thread with the same name this morning as you claim, what was the point of that, when this one was started yesterday?

You have had far to much sun , now run along and lie down for a rest, this is obviously to much for you!!!

So El Grifo, you started your thread at posted 19th April 2002 08:44 this morning prior to Nostradamus who started his thread 18th April 2002 12:08 yesterday.
Can I borrow your time machine to get the lottery results for tommorow ?
I think we should just keep the thred by Nostradamus as he can spell friend.

Edited because I cant spell

Your comment's EL grifo? let me help you SORRY?

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 15:10
Thanks Hugmonster,

You are absolutley correct. I only spotted Nostrdumb-ass' posting after I had posted mines.

The date and time of the most recent posting on his thread was 25mins or so after my thread commenced.

I assumed this to be the timing of the original thread commencing. I appreciate your pointing it out in a civilised manner. I made an error and I apologise for that.

The only good thing about it is, that I have to a certain extent, unmasked Nostradamus and Paterbrat as a couple of loutish ruffians who appear to expect compliance with the loudest voice.

I will " go to the west and diminish"

Until next time !!!!!!!

So the penny has dropped? I myself don't mind being called a loutish ruffian, I cannot speak for paterbrat though.

I would like to point out that assumption's may have attributed to the "friendly fire" incident's,you dont fly an F16 do you?

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 15:32
Nostro says ;-

"I would like to point out that assumption's may have attributed to the "friendly fire" incident's,you dont fly an F16 do you?"

Could you run that by me again in traditional syntax please Nostro, after which I would be happy to address yout question

Nostradamus
19th Apr 2002, 15:42
I HOPE I already know the answer, however,DO YOU FLY AN F16?

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 15:54
Hang on nostro, let me check the hanger - - - - - -

No, it looks like my trusty old Airwave Rave Paraglider, Last Years Model. Mind you it does have comparable all round vision !!

Guess I will have to blow my Birthday cake candles out a bit harder next year.

Now that we have got that out of the way, I would be interested to hear what the linkage between my choice of flying machine and the freeendly fire incidents is.

Nostradamus
19th Apr 2002, 16:06
Well grifo, its like this, I was trying to point out that the people who were killed, were killed on the assumption that they were the enemy. and that assumption is a dangerous thing. I assumed correctly that you dont fly an F16, or indeed operate any heavy piece of machinary. just in case you assume the airfield has moved.

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 16:15
Eh, Thanks for enlightening me Nostro.

Everything has dropped into place. I will go to bed a happeir bunny, safe in the knowledge that. Eh, Airfieds do not move and that it was not a deliberate act perpetrated on the Canadians.

I think we can safely wrap this thing up.

Eh - - - - - Thanks for your, Eh - - - - - Interest

Night

Er mr Griefo, about the other loutish ruffian you mentioned. You probably shouldn't bandy about terms like that or people might behave like that and probably say nasty things about you like, what a pr#t and silly little w#nker you are. Now that would be loutish indeed. Only I don't think I did that, nor did I want to.

Yup 'freindly' fire is a terrible thing, it is a terrible mistake and the people who do it probably have a hard enough time living with them selves after an incident like that without having pr#ts and w#ankers like you making smartarse comments about it.

If you could even open the cockpit of an F16 I might be more inclined to listen to your opinions,... might!! I do though have my doubts about your ability mr griefo, I do have my doubts.

El Grifo

If I have one favourite hobby, it is bursting the bubble of self opinionated, pseudo - intellectuals like yourself. Great thing is, it is all there in black and white for everyone to witness.

Thanks for the sport Mr Paterbrat and thank you for voluntarily exposing your dark side to all us happy pruners.

Whilst I realise life must be a little difficult with all those conflicts running around your head, I really have little sympathy.

I made a stupid mistake, simple as that and thanks to Hugmonster, I was made aware of it.

When you grow up, you might learn there's more to life than just You, You, You.

Happy Daze Amigo

Camera pans out to show El Grifo strolling down to the Marina with his wife and long suffering companion, to enjoy a Cold Dorada in a frosted glass, accompanied by the finest Pekin Duck this side of Beijing.

Isn't life grand

Nostradamus
19th Apr 2002, 17:40
PEKIN DUCK ?

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 17:52
You got it "Consultent"- - - PEKIN DUCK, Yummy Yum !!!

Paterbrat
19th Apr 2002, 18:02
Why thank you griefo, you have given me reason for being. My me me me pseudo intelectualistic bubble is about to be/ has been burst by the Mexican film star, please be carefull of the panning cameras, who is presently consuming some sort of unidentified duck??? I think with some frosty wife called Dorado on a beach/marina?? somewhere near Beijing. Not forgetting his cloud drifter in the hanger out the back.
I have been voluntarily exposing my dark side for the last couple of years surprised that you missed it until now. Your little sympathy has not been missed at all, and sadly the conflicts keep right on running round and round inside my head, it really does drives me potty, but then a sharp chap like you spotted that right away. Phsychiatrist no doubt, if your not I should certainly consider consulting one if I were you. Delusions involving film cameras might interest him.
Now then as its all down in black and white what would you like to burst first ? Cameras ready, Mr Greifo is about to come back in a bursting frenzy and I will have to have all my wits about me.
Now about that hobby of yours??? You are expected of course to do some bursting, not just talk about it, congratulate yourself then waltz of into an imaginary sunset. At the moment you haven't demonstrated the ability to even burst out of a wet paper bag. So lets finish the yum yum duck and I am prepared to be severly verbaly chastised with bubbles bursting all around me

El Grifo
19th Apr 2002, 18:25
Sh*t Paterbrat, Its worse than even I thought.

I remember many years ago, when I had problems similar to yours, I used to slap "Meddle" by Pink Floyd onto the turntable, whip out the Rizlas and drift away into the hazy light fantastic.

Aye these were the days !!!

Manic laughter echoes and fades into the background

Paterbrat
19th Apr 2002, 18:37
Good heavens griefo, is that all. I waited with bated breath, remembering of course to keep my good side to the panning cameras. You took a while but then it was going to be good right???

Maniac laughter and you drifting away in a haze of something dubious you have just rolled in a Rizzla while the echoes of your maniac lauhter fades away just doesn't hack it my man. It is after all down in black and white as you so pointedly remarked. This is Jet Blast, bit of the old verbal sparring, eh?? Bursting of bubbles I heard you say.

All I've seen so far, is you drifting off in a bubble you great nonce.

EL LOCO

What exactly is PEKIN duck? could that be PEKING, or is it PECKIN,
please tell me , im serious I have not come across that one.

And I must say, I like paterbrat waited with baited breath for your, witty and thoughtful response, what a let down you turned out to be, those long winter evenings must seem endless for poor Mrs loco.

Yeah KHan.

I just hauled my butt out of bed looking from further "witticisms" from the Great Men and instead all I got was some tired old banter.

Well I suppose it is getting a bit late for them.

Lets pull the plug Flaps before it becomes any more embarrasing

Paterbrat

Yes Griefo pretty embarrasing. And it's all in black and white.
