Ha ha - like your title.

Am I alone in wondering why they showed so little detail of the mission eg the monkey being put in the rocket, or being retrieved at the other end?

It says "an attempt to send a monkey up in a rocket failed in 2011."

Sure, he found the circuit breakers.

My informants in Iran tell me that the truth is this :

The space shot had Mahmoud Ahmadirtidinnajakat, and a monkey on board. The controllers in Teheran were sending coded messages up to the monkey, who was pushing buttons and pulling levers and keeping the thing on course. Mahmoud was bored and pissed off and sent a message back :

"When do I get something to do."

"Wait for your instructions," came back.

After three days, a message comes through :

"Mahmoud, feed the monkey."

Armored Dinnerjacket now being unavailable, they had to find a new monkey:

Ca. 2013, there is no longer any viable excuse for using animals in such "experiments". Commercially-available sensors (measuring G-forces, temp. etc.) would easily replace them. Unless of course, it's monkeys (no disrespect to real monkeys intended) who're behind these gimmicks. :}
