I heard the other day that my father had died about 2 years ago. We weren't close, obviously, indeed I hadn't seen him since I was 6 in the mid 1970s. Now I don't know exactly where he lived except in the North West of England but I would like to see if he had left any personal possessions. I do know he had married for the third time, but this wife had died about 6 months before him. He was possibly in a care home before he died, but again i don't know. Any ideas on how to start looking? Ta

What was the source of the news... That is the first place to start.

Condolences.

Start by looking in the death notices in the local papers around the time you think he died. There may be people listed as relatives. Try contacting them.

you could start by looking to see if there is any record of him on Search for People, Businesses and Places - 192.com (http://www.192.com)

That can be a good place to start, but it depends on the uniqueness of the name

past electoral roll records tend to be kept listed on that site, even after death
