So as the title states I have worked out how to print from the iDevice without buying a new HP printer. I used to take a screenshot of my flight plan on the iDevice then email that to myself which I would retrieve on a normal PC and print from there. That worked ok unless you had a long flight plan which would not fit on the screen.

Now this may be common knowledge, if so then move along, nothing to see here.

After some Googling I found Netgear Genie (http://www.netgear.com/landing/genie/default.aspx) which is meant as a network management tool, but it does include an Airprint emulator which you can then point to any printer connected to the same network and make it Airprint enabled. It does run in the background however which some people may not like, but its better than buying a new printer. You don't need to have any Netgear hardware installed, apparently works for both wired and wireless networks (I have only tried wireless) and best of all its a completely free full working download. I found it simple to install without having to adjust settings and go through a whole setup process to find printers, and after a couple of days now and it seems to work as intended (however my fuel planning page always has a couple of lines missing from the bottom from the print out, I don't know if this is Ozrunways, Airprint, the emulator or my printer settings, hope someone might be able to provide some advice). This was all on a PC running Windows 7. It does have download links for Mac, Android, iPad and iPhone also but I haven't tried any of them.

Please note I am posting this as advice for other PPRuNers, I am not affiliated with any of the companys/products mentioned, and I am in no way computer savvy so post any requests for tech support if you like but I don't think I will be able to help but other members might be more knowledgeable.

Nice one - there used to be some paid alternatives out and I use "Printer Simulator" that comes with XCode but that just creates a PDF on my laptop.

Still no A5 portable bluetooth printer :(

Edit: somebody just sent me this:
Mobile Thermal Printers | Full-Page Printing – Brother™ PocketJet® 6 (http://www.brother-usa.com/mobile/lp/pocketjet/)

Possibly useful but doesn't do air-print.

Edit2: Cannot see it being popular at $455.
