Hi all.

I was wondering if any of you have an idea of where to find out who, except for the royals in the middle east, operate their own private/business 747-400's or just any 747's for that matter? Does anyone know or know where to find out? I've looked on the net but don't know if I've been looking in the right places. I know there are a few but where are they?

Just something I was wondering.

Thank you for your info.

'A few'? Apart from the Middle Eastern Royals I can only think of one, a 74SP operated by Las Vegas Sands Corp, which is not really a secret.

"Celebrities" and people who prefer to keep a low profile usually operate smaller jets, which do not stand out like a 74 would.

I know of the 747SP out of Las Vegas as you say but I am aware of at least two privately owned and operated 747-400 but know nothing else of the aircraft. I think the one or maybe both are kept out of the obvious public eye by putting it in Airline colours and registration but privately crewed. Don't know really but heard something of the sort and it got me wondering.

Thanks for the reply though.

There has been a 747SP based at Sacramento/McClellen (KMMC) for years. Owned by Frys Electronics...but doesn't seem to get out much. Unconfirmed report that it spends more time flying to maintain crew currency than flying for any other reason.

We operate 5 of them, with #6 a 748......

You also have Sands Las Vegas, Frys Electronics, Pratt and Whitney, NASA, old Emir of Qatar, all with SP's.

I don't know of any non Royalty operating anything other than SP's.

NASA's SP (SOFIA): N747NA could sort of be on that list.

The two SCA's no longer fly.

Thought that the SP was owned by the father, ex ruler of Qatar, and the -8 owned by the son, present ruler. Seems an incredible jump for the father to go from a $30m SP to a $500m -8.
