Despite assurances to the contrary as recently as two days ago, it now turns out that Qantas has indeed cancelled another 787 hull. Apparently this single plane cancellation was decided in late December.

Ben Sandilands is blogging that this is reflective of the business case at Jetstar rather than a result of the latest aircraft issues. It makes me wonder if this airplane slid into a more lucrative liquidated damages window and hence became more valuable cancelled than delivered?

It's all about next years annual announcements to make Jetstar look financially profitable, then, to bridge the gap of the 787 failures, the A330's will remain at JQ and be replaced with the A350's.

How do they bridge the gap of the A330 failures though... have you seen the load factors?

Capt. K, the OOL/NRT A330 is just about full all the time, which sectors are you talking about?

Thanks for the figures Capt. K. I don't consider them too bad, considering they are out of a regional city like OOL. Its going to be a tough year for all, even though the dollar being over parity is a great help to the long haul business right now, mind you, OOL is like a major city street on Xmas Eve at the moment, I don't think I have ever seen it so busy, and A/C are delayed at times for lack of a bay. Good to see THE RAT back I must say.

With Jet Star Asia going gang busters, Jet star Pacific re-writing the record books and Jet Star poised to bank roll the rest of the Qf group and save it from tghe knackers yard I'm surprised at all the negativity:E
