Thanks for the reminder, FPOBN.

I still think that those pictures are some of the most extraordinary I've ever seen during a long life in aviation. If you didn't know, you'd think it was CGI.

That scene reminds me of what an extraordinary aeroplane the A-320 turned out to be. Plus, of course what extraordinary people Sully Sullenberger, Jeff Skiles, Donna Dent, Doreen Welsh and Sheila Dail all turned out to be.

Not forgetting all the boat crews, emergency coordinators etc - and, of course, the SLF.

I'm also reminded that the occasion was a rare event for me from another point of view. Most often. when I get called to go on tv and rabbit on about things, it's because there's been some awful tragedy. This was one of those wonderful, never-to-be-forgotten occasions when it was almost unalloyed good news. Another was BA-038 at LHR.

Four years! Seems like yesterday.
